An excellent student unit for showing the spectra of two sources simultaneously against a common scale. It uses a fine grade transmission replica grating of 15 000 lines to the inch. The images appear at the end opposite the eyepiece and are superimposed on a backlighted scale graduated in Angstrom units from 3800 to 7600 A. The actual scale length is approximately 3 inches long. Back illumination is obtained only while the pushbutton on the cord is held closed. Special spring wire clips hold spectrum tubes securely in place. The adjustable double-acting slit is controlled by the small knob on the left side. Unit comes with tripod base and support post but without spectrum tubes.
