Designed to provide a safe, but very dramatic demonstration of the generation of heat by gas under compression. This fire syringe is an assembly of a comfortably proportioned knob attached to a piston inside a heavy-walled combustion tube which in turn is housed inside a high impact transparent plastic outer cylinder. Cotton at the bottom of the tube ignites in a flash as the plunger is caused to rapidly compress the gas inside the tube. Parts are carefully fitted to provide a tight seal and assure smooth, stable operation.
