This friction block set allows the student to study the effects of friction and to compare the coefficients of friction for a variety of surface textures. The two wooden blocks can be joined with a matching hook and eye to illustrate the dependence of friction upon weight and surface area. A mirror is mounted on one of the blocks to provide a second surface with a different coefficient of friction. A mirror/sandpaper block is provided so the student can investigate layers of materials with different coefficients of friction between layers. Static friction and sliding friction are easily illustrated.
