| Simplify a complex task: the investigation of half-life. The general concepts of radioactivity and half-life can be investigated with the material in this kit. Using simulated plastic radioactive atoms (Simulats), each student conducts a series of activities which provides data that is graphed. By applying this information and the concepts developed to real-life problems, students can then calculate: 1. The amount of carbon 14 found in an insect embedded in amber about 18 000 years ago. 2. The amount of carbon 14 present in charcoal burned about 28 000 years ago. 3. The age of pollen from the amount of carbon 14 left. Kit contains enough material for 75 lab groups of 2 students each. |
