Hands-on activities for middle level learners with teachers models and transparencies. High interest activities centered around the food pyramid, using a teacher model for demonstration and labeled blocks for students to build pyramids of their actual diets. Also include demonstrations of relationships of stored energy compared to calories/grams by actually burning food samples. Unit covers activities for three weeks, many of which can be used independently of the total plan. Enough materials for 30 students.
