Traditionally the first area of study in organic chemistry is hydrocarbons. This kit permits students to become more intimately involved by individually constructing the homologous series of hydrocarbons, such as alkanes, alkenes, alkynes and benzene. What sets this LAB-AIDS® kit apart from most other kits, is that the nonbonding valences are also represented. A composite of all linkages, regardless of compatibility, is helpful in the determination of molecular properties. Twelve separate sets of molecular model components are provided. Each set enables a student, or a team of students, to carry out the activities. Kit contains enough material for 2 classes with 12 lab groups of 2 students each per class.
