This is a novel demonstration of the conservation of energy and the conservation of momentum. The apparatus consists of a launching ramp, a target block, and a happy and sad ball. The happy and sad ball provide elastic and inelastic collisions with the target block. The target block is placed so the sad ball impact wobbles it but does not tip it over. The happy ball is launched from the same position on the ramp and the resulting impact readily tips the block completely over! This is a remarkably clear demonstration that illustrates a point of physics that is so often overlooked. Includes an instruction manual and explanations of the result. (Support stand not included).
