Why Is The Water Green ?
Investigate how common pollutants - detergents and fertilizers - affect the growth of microalgae in ponds, contributing to environmental problems. Using either the unique dried culture mix included or pond water samples that they collect themselves, students investigate how algae are affected by phosphates and nitrates and the concentration at which these common pollutants cause algal blooms. (Class size: 40 students)
